The Aquascape Project is a unique, rules-based aquatic endeavor. The project involves a fixed-camera setup and follows a hero object, which is uniquely lit, as it traverses the scene, disappearing behind other objects and then moving directly past the camera’s viewpoint.

Crucial elements such as camera matching and various VFX tasks are carried out manually using Houdini, with the objective of creating a realistic, immersive underwater environment.

Despite not featuring fish or other typical aquatic objects, the project aims to capture the essence of an underwater experience. This is achieved through carefully designed features like visible water surfaces, bubbles, and particulates suspended in the water.

The composite work for the project is completed in Nuke.

Additionally, acquisition footage is captured in a green screen studio, further enhancing the project’s visual appeal and authenticity.
